This season, the Chicago White Sox have received a significant boost from their pitching staff. After allowing a run in each of his first two outings in March, Hudson quickly settled in during April, going unscored upon across 13 appearances and 11.2 innings. That strong run has carried into May as well, with two more scoreless outings extending his streak to 15 straight appearances and lowering his season ERA to 1.13.

This isn’t the first time Hudson has found sustained success at the big-league level. With the Milwaukee Brewers in 2024, he made the Opening Day roster and allowed just three earned runs through the early part of the season into July. However, a dip in velocity and emerging mechanical concerns eventually led to a downturn in performance, and he was ultimately optioned to Triple-A to work through adjustments.

After being claimed by the White Sox last summer, designated for assignment over the winter, traded to the New York Mets, and then reclaimed by Chicago in late March, the whirlwind of transactions surrounding him has been constant and has to have White Sox fans feeling fortunate to have him back in the organization, especially after an underwhelming 2025 campaign with the club.

Now, with strong early-season production, the chaos of the past year almost feels like a reset point for both Hudson and the White Sox. What once looked like a fringe roster arm has quickly evolved into a reliable bullpen piece. If Hudson continues to perform at this level, the uncertainty that once defined his career path could be replaced by something far more valuable in Chicago: trust in late-game situations.
