REPORT: Chicago Fire hosting Robert Lewandowski for visit
The Chicago Fire are currently on international break due to the World Cup taking place in North America over the next month. However, they are in pursuit of one of the top international soccer players.
After rumors swirled that the Fire were interested in Robert Lewandowski, the striker is currently on a visit with the Fire per multiple reports. Lewandowski and his agent Pini Zahavi are on the visit per a report as they mull a move to the MLS.
The Fire make the most sense and have shown interest in Lewandowski. Now, getting him here for a visit would be a huge first step into agreeing to a deal to land him.

Men in Red first reported the news on Friday, with The Athletic’s Tom Bogert confirming. This initial report states that no deal is signed just yet. But there are billboards in Chicago dedicated to the visit:
According to sources familiar with the travel plans, Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, one of the game’s most prolific scorers over the past two decades, is currently en route to Chicago amidst continued links to the Chicago Fire.
Although sources familiar with the situation stress that no deal has been signed between the MLS club and player, reports are that billboards along the highway from O’Hare to downtown Chicago are displaying ads from the Fire welcoming the Polish international to the city. According to emails shown to MIR97 Media, Fire supporters have also been asked to gather for an unspecified “special fan moment” this Sunday at Recess, the West Loop site of the Fire’s World Cup watch parties.
With the Fire in pursuit, they have a legit chance to land the talented Polish striker. Chicago’s Polish population could also help in the pursuit, hoping to improve the roster moving forward.
Lewandowski has scored over 500 goals for clubs and his country, splitting time between Poland and Germany. The Fire are in third place in the MLS Eastern Conference, playing well this season.
They are also in talks with other international players as well.
