Fever react to Caitlin Clark’s historic World Cup debut
Caitlin Clark made her FIBA World Cup debut on Friday and proved once again that she is the real deal. She received a lot of praise from fans and analysts, while the Indiana Fever reacted to her performance.
The three-time All-Star guard finished with 14 points, three rebounds, 11 assists and three three-pointers. It was the most assists by any USA debuting player in tournament history. Her historic game earned her Player of the Game honors despite coming off the bench for head coach Kara Lawson.
Paige Bueckers and Rhyne Howard also recorded 14 points each, while Jackie Young contributed 12 points in the 94-61 win. It was the perfect start for Team USA as it aims to win its fifth consecutive world championship.

The Fever proudly posted a graphic of Clark on social media after the game. They included her stats and added their reaction in the caption.

All 12 Team USA players scored, showing their dominance and sending a strong message to the rest of the competition. Clark and Co. will play their next game on Sunday against Italy, followed by a matchup with Czechia the next day. The quarterfinals is set to begin on Sept. 10.
Meanwhile, Indiana will return to action on Sept. 18 to face the Toronto Tempo at Coca-Cola Coliseum. The team is riding a two-game winning streak with four games left on its schedule. The Fever are currently fifth in the standings with a 26-14 record and are just one game behind the Las Vegas Aces for third place. They have the same record as the Atlanta Dream, but Angel Reese and her team own the tiebreaker.
