OTL: Players as Frustrated as Fans with Offense
Sunday saw the Ravens notch another win, extending their winning streak to five, bringing their record even with the Steelers, and placing them first in the AFC North. All of these are things to be thankful for as we approach Thanksgiving, but there was plenty of grumbling from the Flock about things that the team could do better, especially since it appeared that they were once again punching down to their competition. Sometimes, the concerns you hear from fans and pundits can be overblown, but not in this case, as the players themselves appear to agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment.
The consensus opinion seems to be, “We’re happy that we won, but we have to do better.”
Derrick Henry on how the Ravens offense can improve its overall execution:
“What do we need to do as an offense? Play better. Execute. I mean, I don’t know what else to say. We just need to play better, and everybody just do their job. It takes all 11 to be able to execute, put… pic.twitter.com/SSIMQeFqjR

Lamar Jackson on if he’s felt fully himself in recent weeks and if injuries are holding him/the offense back:
“I can’t call it, but I’m out there so I feel like I should still be able to do what I do. … I feel like we just need to execute a lot better. We getting great field… pic.twitter.com/a6T0LDyLkD

“While winning is great, to reach our goal, we need to be better.”
With their 5th straight win, the Ravens joined the Steelers atop the AFC North. After a 1-5 start, that’s worth celebrating. Still, they seem to understand that their ceiling is low if the offense isn’t better. pic.twitter.com/FHFOGByTab— Jeff Zrebiec (@jeffzrebiec) November 24, 2025
I was in attendance on Sunday, and I can’t argue with these assessments. I will say that Derrick Henry tends not to enjoy media availability anyway, but you can see how bristly he was in the video above, and I don’t blame him. Yes, he had two touchdowns, but it was tough sledding up the middle all day, and it felt at times like the Ravens were beating their heads against the wall in the run game.
So, how do you fix it? How do you figure out where and when you can turn it loose?
By facing off against the opponent that has the worst defense in the NFL by total yards allowed, passing yards allowed, points allowed, and the second-worst run defense by yards allowed in the league, the worst defense ever by DVOA, and you do it when they’re without one of their top defenders.
Despite a reasonable day against the Patriots, the #Bengals were able to barely hold on to their “lead” as the worst defense ever tracked by DVOA.
I’ll be writing about this a bit for ESPN this week. pic.twitter.com/2O0hi2U5PV

Yes, this offense has been chasing a “get right” game for a while, and you’d think that it would have come in one of the last few against some reeling opponents. Still, it wasn’t likely to come against the Browns, who have a stout defense and know Baltimore well, and the Ravens did have a recent outing against the Vikings where it seemed like the quick passing game was at least generating something. If Joe Burrow is healthy enough to draw back into the lineup, the Bengals are likely to put up some points, but Baltimore’s defense has improved in a few of their own “get right” games recently…
The Rams lead the NFL in scoring margin since Week 8.
A close 2nd: the streaking Ravens.
Yes, the offense can be an eyesore, but …
“Even when something’s not right … defense isn’t right, offense isn’t right, we’re still building with one another.”https://t.co/RXs2pWXwnt

…so, the deciding factor could be how much the Ravens offense is able and willing to open it up.
Let’s make it happen. Here’s hoping we can watch our guys carve up Cincy’s defense like a Thanksgiving turkey.
