Former Chicago White Sox lands on the IL for the Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers received terrible news on first baseman Andrew Vaughn’s status, with Vaughn expected to miss a chunk of time. According to USA Today columnist Bob Nightengale, the former Chicago White Sox will be out until early May with a fractured left hamate bone.

Vaughn was traded to the Brewers last season in exchange for right-hander Aaron Civale and cash considerations. The former first-round pick (third overall) was outstanding in 64 games, batting .308 with an OPS of .869.
Vaughn carried over his success from last year to the spring. In 16 games, Vaughn batted .367 with a 1.049 OPS, and hitting three doubles and home runs.

With Vaughn heading to the injured list, the Brewers decided to call up top prospect, catcher Jefferson Quero. Quero is the Brewers’ eighth-ranked prospect and appeared in one game at Triple-A — Quero went 0-2 with a walk and a strikeout. Last season, Quero batted .271 with a .839 OPS in 69 games between Rookie Ball and Triple-A.

Quero will give manager Pat Murphy some flexibility with his lineup, as he’ll have three catchers on his roster. Having Quero will allow Murphy to use Sanchez at first base, so all three bats are in the lineup.
