NFL Rumors: Chicago Bears LB Tremaine Edmunds linked to 3 NFL teams in trade rumors

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Chicago Bears had given permission for linebacker Tremaine Edmunds to seek a trade. Due to count over $17 million against the NFL salary cap in 2026, the Bears could save $15 million by releasing or trading their star linebacker.

In three seasons with Chicago, Edmunds has recorded 110 or more tackles each year. The two-time Pro Bowler was one of general manager Ryan Poles‘ first major free agent signings. Unfortunately, his time with the Bears appears to have come to an end.

While simply releasing Edmunds would provide cap relief, trading him would do the same and net Chicago some assets in return.

Chicago Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds has a good trade market

The Bears and other NFL teams have representatives present at the scouting combine in Indianapolis. Of course, players agents are also present, both as representatives of the prospects and of veteran NFL players.

These agents often leak tidbits of information to the media, and one such whisper is that Edmunds has a pretty significant trade market:

“One player who has strong trade value and a decent chance to be dealt is Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. The Titans, Raiders and Giants are among teams interested in high-end linebackers, and they like Edmunds, who’s only 27 despite eight years in the league. He was granted permission to seek a trade earlier this week.”

As noted above, the Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders, and New York Giants are among the teams that have shown interest in Edmunds.

These teams, of course, could wait for Edmunds to hit the open market when/if he is released by Chicago. However, the fact that he has so many teams interested in him may cause one or more of them to make an offer to the Bears. Otherwise, they might risk losing out on signing him to another team on the open market.
