Chicago Bears’ Joe Thuney reacts to big career news
The accolades keep coming for Chicago Bears left guard Joe Thuney.
The 33-year-old made an immediate impact on Bears nation in his first season with the club in 2025. Thuney anchored an offensive line that helped head coach Ben Johnson’s squad post an 11-6 record and capture the NFC North Division title. He also helped Chicago secure its first postseason victory since 2010.
The Bears finished with the third-best rushing offense in the NFL and the third-fewest sacks allowed (24). With Thuney’s leadership, they also became the only team in the league with two running backs surpassing 750 rushing yards.

NC State honors Chicago Bears guard Joe Thuney with Ring of Honor induction
NC State announced Tuesday that Thuney will be enshrined in the Wolfpack Football Ring of Honor at Carter-Finley Stadium. He becomes the 14th member of the elite group.
Thuney reshared a graphic post from @packfootball via Instagram Stories, expressing his gratitude.
“Such an honor – so unbelievably proud and humbled to represent North Carolina State,” he said.

His path to that honor began in Raleigh. Thuney was the first Wolfpack offensive lineman in nearly 40 years to earn All-America honors in his final collegiate season. Jim Ritcher last accomplished the feat in 1979.
His impact carried well beyond the college level. In his first season with Chicago, Thuney earned AP First-Team All-Pro honors at left guard and a Pro Bowl selection. That recognition added to an already decorated 2025 campaign.
Thuney won the NFL’s inaugural Protector of the Year Award, introduced in the 2025 season. The league will present it annually to its best offensive lineman. It was only fitting that the game’s premier guard was its first recipient.
The Bears will once again lean on Thuney as they look to build on last season’s success and hope to make a deeper postseason run.
