Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark gets good news on Tuesday
Injuries got in the way of Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark’s second WNBA season. The former Iowa Hawkeyes standout dominated in her debut campaign. This led to her winning the WNBA Rookie of the Year title in 2024. Unfortunately, she was limited to just 13 games in her second season due to multiple soft tissue injuries.
Clark announced her return to basketball with an MVP-level performance for Team USA in the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament in March. After eight months on the shelf, the 24-year-old proved that she has not missed a beat.
Clark is now looking to carry over that momentum to the upcoming WNBA season, which starts in May.

Clark can’t do it all on her own, though. She needs a formidable team around her to help her lead the Fever to potentially their first WNBA championship since 2012.
The Fever’s front office is well aware of this, which is why they have been working hard to build a strong roster around Clark.
Indiana Fever makes first free agency moves
The Fever got the ball rolling on Tuesday by making their first moves in WNBA free agency. While teams are not allowed to officially enter negotiations with free agents until Wednesday, Indiana has already made a couple of big moves ahead of the window.
First off, the Fever extended a core qualifying offer for three-time All-Star Kelsey Mitchell. This move gives Indiana exclusive negotiating rights for Mitchell, who carried the Fever’s offense last season while Clark was sidelined.
On top of Mitchell’s core qualifying offer, the Fever also extended Lexie Hull’s restricted qualifying offer. Hull is widely considered Indiana’s best defender. This move puts the team in a good position to renew her contract for 2026 and beyond.
While neither of these moves guarantees that Mitchell or Hull will remain with the Fever, they are clear indications of how the team has prioritized these two players in free agency. This is good news for Clark, who can reasonably expect to get two of her best teammates back for 2026.
