This Chicago White Sox player is out for the 2026 season
The Chicago White Sox are one team that has been dealing with injuries to begin the season. With a handful of players on the Injured List, there is one who has received some unfortunate news regarding his status. Let’s take a closer look at the latest news and what it means for the White Sox going forward.

It is being reported that White Sox infielder Brooks Baldwin is undergoing surgery on his right elbow. Baldwin underwent a season-ending UCL internal brace on his right elbow on April 1, officially ending his season. He was placed on the Injured List coming out of spring training. However, it is officially being reported now, but he’s expected to be ready for spring training next season.
Baldwin played 103 games in 2025 and had a .240/.290/.407 slash line with 11 homers, 38 RBI, and 32 runs scored. With the ability to play multiple positions on the field, losing him for the entire 2026 season is a bit difficult for the depth of the White Sox.
Chicago is already dealing with some depth issues, but this is a chance for Baldwin to get healthy for his future. He is still in a pre-arbitration contract, which means he is getting the MLB minimum wage. The 25-year-old is going to battle to make the 26-man roster out of next year’s spring training with the team calling up some young talent. However, it will be a chance for Baldwin to get healthy and continue improving with the 2026 season officially out of the picture for a return.
Chicago seems to have the middle infield locked in with Colson Montgomery at shortstop, but with the outfield depth being a bit of a question mark, it appears that is Baldwin’s best chance in 2027 to make the roster. There is still a long time until then, including a possible lockout, so it will be intriguing to see what happens until that point.
