Chicago Bulls rumored to offer trade package for Miami Heat standout

The Chicago Bulls picked a direction for the franchise this year, beginning with their moves at the NBA Trade Deadline. Chicago dealt a handful of players including Nikola Vucevic, Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu.

In return, the Bulls received a handful of players as well as some second-round picks to help with the rebuild. But those weren’t the only moves the Bulls at least attempted to make. In fact, they tried to acquire a key player to build around for the future, even after those moves.

And they had their eyes on Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro according to the latest reports.

Chicago Bulls made trade offer for Tyler Herro?

As the NBA Playoffs will officially begin this weekend, the Bulls are on the outside looking in again. But now we are starting to find out some potential plans the previous regime of Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley had.

Per NBA insider Brett Siegal, there were two teams attempting to trade for Herro at the deadline. One of them? The Bulls:

“Going back to Tyler Herro, real quick. Other piece of intel we had in our intel story that I did not mention when we were talking about Tyler Herro before… two teams did reach out to the Miami Heat at the trade deadline,” Siegel said.

“Two teams: one in the Eastern Conference and one in the Western Conference reached out to the Heat while they were actively talking to the Bucks about a potential Giannis trade, whether or not they would’ve been an extension of it to get Tyler Herro and include other pieces,” Siegel added.

“But those two teams: one in the East was the Chicago Bulls. A team that was going through a rebuild and looking at buy low opportunities. I’m told they were looking to flip the expiring contracts of Anfernee Simons and Collin Sexton along with some protected picks to get Tyler Herro.”

That’s interesting.

Was it a big chance that the previous regime was going to take to maybe prolong their time here? It doesn’t appear that Miami was actually series in moving Herro for any package despite reported talks to land Giannis. But landing Herro would have helped the Bulls in terms of getting another key scorer.

Will this new regime make a push for another scorer this offseason? Looks like we will have to wait and see.
