Fans all saying the same thing after Indiana Fever’s major Caitlin Clark announcement
The Indiana Fever put in a lot of work throughout the offseason to continue building a formidable roster around Caitlin Clark. The two-time WNBA All-Star is the cornerstone of this franchise, but the organization knows full well that Clark will need a strong supporting cast around her.
The Fever proved their commitment to the cause by shelling out millions of dollars in free agency. Kelsey Mitchell was the first priority, and Indiana signed her to a one-year supermax contract $1.4 million. Aliyah Boston was not a free agent but was up for an extension. This came out to a staggering four-year, $6.4 million deal, marking the richest contract in WNBA history.
Sophie Cunningham and Lexie Hull also got new deals. The Fever also brought in Myisha Hines-Allen, Monique Billings and Tyasha Harris in free agency.
Indiana Fever announce contract decision on Caitlin Clark
The Fever, of course, was not going to forget about Clark. While the 24-year-old is not yet eligible to sign a new deal with the team, Indiana announced its decision to officially exercise Clark’s rookie contract for 2027.

This was an easy decision for the Fever, and fans are all saying the same thing about it.
“Duh,” a comment on Instagram read.
“Well that’s a no [exletive] brainer,” another said.
“Of course! 👏👏” a user wrote.
“i’m sooo surprised !! lol,” a reaction read.
“Well of COURSE you did!” said another.
“I’m SHOOK 🤣🤣” a supporter expressed.
The sarcasm in the comments section is undeniable. Fans are adamant that the Fever had no other course of action than to exercise the fourth year of Clark’s current contract.
What comes next becomes more interesting. Under the new CBA, Clark will be eligible for an EPIC (Exceptional Performance on Initial Contract) deal in 2027. At this point, it would not be a surprise if she sets a new WNBA record with the value of her new contract next year.
