They have been an incredible team, but they need to continue attracting recruits to be legitimate contenders. One of the top recruits have officially committed to the part of the Fighting Irish. 4-star safety Zayden Gamble committs to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The Fighting Irish have secured one of the team’s biggest commitments yet for the 2027 recruiting class after just a singular visit. Four-star prospect safety Zayden Gamble has reportedly commited to Notre Dame on Saturday evening, per Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.
This is a major addition for the 2027 class. Notre Dame was able to beat out Miami, Florida, and Ohio State to land him. Gamble is listed at 6-feet and 190 pounds and had a strong 2025 season with St. Thomas Aquanis in Florida. He finished the 2025 season with 65 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, and three interceptions. Gamble is considered to be one of the top safeties in the Class of 2027.
In his only visit to South Bend, Gamble saw a team practice and that was enough. Notre Dame has been no stranger over the years in recruiting elite safeties and they are hoping that will continue with Gamble. The program also has sent many players to the NFL in the draft. The Fighting Irish have a strong secondary in the class as he will be with:
- Cornerback Ace Alston
- Cornerback John Gay III
- Cornerback Xavier Hasan
Coach Marcus Freeman has been able to keep adding to the stockpile for future years and this is no different. Gamble is scheduled to return on June 19th for his official visit. Now, it will be interesting to see Notre Dame can keep his commitment without any issues.
