Chicago Cubs’ Pete Crow-Armstrong punished by MLB: Report
Following Sunday’s 9-8 loss to the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong was unapologetic about his vulgar interaction with a fan at Rate Field.
Crow-Armstrong said the fan talked (expletive), so he felt the need to say it back.
It was unclear if the MLB would punish PCA for the interaction with female White Sox fan.
Per Jesse Rogers of ESPN, the MLB will fine the outfielder for the “incident” on Sunday. It’s not clear who much the league will fine Crow-Armstrong. It does not appear he will be suspended for the outburst.
On Monday Cubs manager Craig Counsell suggested PCA could have handled the situation better.
“Pete made a mistake with his choice of words,” Counsell said. “He’s aware of that. … It’s the reality of this job. Fan interactions happen. You want to try and keep them positive even when they’re not.”

Crow-Armstrong sounded more apologetic on Monday.
“Directly or indirectly, I don’t think that any of the women in my life would think I would say those kinds of words regularly,” he said. “I’m just bummed out about the word choice and a bunch of little kids going to social media and seeing that as well… “I saw the cameras in my face, it’s not like I didn’t.
“I’m definitely aware of the fact that it has blown up. … I am intense on the field. In a moment like that, I think I let it get away from me a little bit.”
The intensity from PCA wasn’t the problem. Frankly, what he said the fan wasn’t totally uncalled for. However, he allowed the fan to get into his head, and he finished 0-for-3 at bat in the loss.
It was a learning experience for Crow-Armstrong, and he has plenty of money to pay for the fine after signing a six-year, $115 million deal in March.
