Did WNBA blatantly snub Caitlin Clark again? Fans believe so

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark played in one out of the Indiana Fever’s two games in Week 2 of the WNBA season, from May 18 to 24.

She was forced to sit out on May 20 against the Portland Fire due to a back injury. Clark was a late scratch for that game, and her unexpected absence caused quite a stir. So much so that the WNBA ended up issuing a warning to the Fever for not properly disclosing Clark’s injury in time.

Clark, however, made up for lost time in their next game. She went off in Friday’s 90-82 win over the Golden State Valkyries, which marked Indiana’s third consecutive victory.

The two-time All-Star dropped a game-high 22 points on 7-of-15 shooting, two rebounds, nine assists, a steal, one block and four triples in 32 minutes of action.

More than a few avid Fever supporters believe that this performance should have been enough to earn the WNBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week honor. The league, however, thought otherwise.

The WNBA announced on Wednesday that Rhyne Howard of the Atlanta Dream was the best player in the East last week. This is after Howard averaged 23.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists to lead the Dream to back-to-back wins. As of writing, Atlanta has the best record in the entire league at 4-1.

Kelsey Plum of the Los Angeles Sparks was named Western Conference Player of the Week.

Caitlin Clark fans not pleased with WNBA’s decision

This decision did not sit well with Clark’s supporters, who believe that the WNBA has snubbed their idol for a second straight week. They made their feelings very clear in the comments section.

“Clark going to have to avg 36.7pts 16 asst 7 reb 4 stl to even sniff POW 🤔” a reaction on X read.

“Hmmm noticing. This should be Caitlin,” another said.

“You guys Hate CC after all the things she brought to this league,” claimed a user.

“BS,” commented a Clark fan.

“They are trying so hard to deny Caitlin Clark’s MVP,” said another.

“They all still have a clear case of CCDS. Caitlin Clark Derangement Syndrome. It will never change as long as she plays,” accused a reader.

The silver lining for Clark and her fans is that there’s still a long way to go this season and many awards to be potentially won.

Clark’s next chance to make some noise on the court comes Thursday. She will look to lead the Fever to a fourth straight victory when they take on the Golden State Valkyries on the road.
