Stephanie White addresses WNBA’s ‘crazy’ Indiana Fever decision
The Indiana Fever is off to a rough start. The 2025 WNBA Commissioners Cup champions hosted the Dallas Wings at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday. Unfortunately, they bowed down to the visitors, 107-104.
Head Coach Stephanie White and her squad couldn’t pull off the opening-day win despite decent production from their star players.
Caitlin Clark had 20 points and seven assists. However, she only shot 22.2% from three and 38.9% from the field. Kelsey Mitchell finished with 30 points and four assists. Aliyah Boston had a well-rounded game with 23 points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block.

Indiana Fever: Stephanie White prioritizing rest because of ‘crazy’ schedule
White was straightforward with her team after the loss. She was specific about what they needed to improve to compete at a higher level this season.
The Fever are now scheduled to travel to L.A. to face the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday. However, the schedule is anything but ideal for White’s squad.
Indiana will only have two days between their next game, which is against the Washington Mystics at home. On top of that, Indiana will go on a four-game home stand after their game against the Sparks.
On Monday, White address the schedule situation during a media availability session. White was asked about the “unusual road trip” that requires the Fever to travel to L.A. and immediately return to Indianapolis for their next home game. The veteran coach got brutally honest about the WNBA’s schedule decision.
“It’s crazy scheduling to go out for a one-off when you’re crossing three time zones,” White said. “I don’t know that you see this in other sports leagues that have more teams.”
The Fever coach then laid out their plan for the unusual schedule.
“So we’ll go out a day early. We’ll get adjusted,” she said. “Not only are we crossing three time zones and playing one game, but we’ve got to come back and play 48 hours later, or however long it is.
“So we’ll have to come back and prioritize rest on our day in between, and then be locked into prep for Washington on Friday.”
The Fever look to get their first win of the season when they visit the Sparks in LA. On top of that, they aim to defend homecourt during the upcoming four-game home stand.
