Chicago Cubs hope Pete Crow-Armstrong continues to heat up in June
Chicago Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong has fallen short of his All-Star level talent this season. Crow-Armstrong had what seemed to be a breakout season in 2025, where he hit .247 with a .768 OPS (career-high) and was third on the team in home runs (31).
His performance helped earn him the six-year ($115 million) contract extension that he signed in the offseason. Through 60 games after earning his pay raise, Crow-Armstrong has not lived up to the billing.
He is batting .237 with a .713 OPS and has mashed seven home runs in 219 at-bats. For the first two months of last season, Crow-Armstrong mashed 15 home runs and batted .447 with a .921 OPS.
Crow-Armstrong put together a better May — posting a .233 with a .761 OPS, four home runs, 13 RBI, six stolen bases (caught once) and was hit by a pitch five times — the Cubs hope that June will be the month the Gold Glove winner will go off.
The Chicago Cubs hope that Pete Crow-Armstrong’s strong May will be a precursor to a better June

Over a third of the way through the Major League Baseball season, June is a time when hitters and teams show you whether they can turn things around or not. According to MLB.com’s Manny Randhawa, Crow-Armstrong is one hitter that needs to get going, as the team itself tries to get back on track. The Cubs went 13-16 in May after finishing 17-9 in April.

“At this time a year ago, Crow-Armstrong was an early MVP candidate — entering June, PCA had produced a .272/.306/.557 slash line with 15 home runs and 17 steals. Compare that to his numbers entering Sunday — .237/.327/.391 with seven homers and 12 steals,” wrote Randhawa. “Not only is PCA’s offensive production crucial to the Cubs’ success, but so is his electric style of play, which is enhanced exponentially when he’s hot at the plate. We saw that on Saturday against the Cardinals, when PCA recorded four hits, including a home run, and made yet another highlight reel grab in center.”
Crow-Armstrong enters June with a six-game hitting streak and had a four-hit performance against the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday, so the signs that he’s heating up are there.
