Chicago White Sox: Tristan Peters rookie campaign is making the Milwaukee Brewers look foolish
The Chicago White Sox are getting some pretty significant contributions from multiple rookie players so far this season. Of course, everyone expected Chicago to field a plethora of rookies and young talent, but very few, if any, predicted that they would be 32-28 through the first 60 games of the season.
Munetaka Murakami, of course, has received the most attention due to the 20 home runs he hit before going on the injured list with a hamstring strain. If Chicago is going to remain in the mix while Murakami is out, the rest of their young core is going to have to step up.
So far, Tristan Peters has proven that he belongs in the Majors and can be a key contributor to the lineup.

So far this season, Peters is hitting .295/.356/.418 with two home runs, 14 RBI, and four stolen bases. Recently, Bleacher Report named him the 12th-best rookie in all Major League Baseball:
“The White Sox acquired Peters from the Rays in exchange for cash considerations in December, and he has emerged as the replacement for Luis Robert Jr. in center field. With a 113 OPS+ in the batter’s box and strong defensive metrics (5 DRS, 5 OAA), he has provided well-rounded value as one of the most out-of-nowhere contributors of the year. He might be the 2026 version of what Isaac Collins was for the Brewers last year.”
And for fans who have a particular dislike for the Milwaukee Brewers, the emergence of Peters is especially sweet. He was originally drafted by Milwaukee in the seventh round of the 2021 MLB amateur draft. A year later, they traded him to the San Francisco Giants for reliever Trevor Rosenthal.
The thing is, though, Rosenthal never pitched for Milwaukee. He was already rehabbing from a hamstring injury at the time of the trade, and then after it went down suffered a lat strain that ended his season. When the 2022 season ended, he became a free agent and left the Brewers organization.
Needless to say, for a Milwaukee team that often ends up on the right side of trades, this one was a really bad miss. Peters currently has a higher batting average and OPS than any outfielder on the Brewers’ Major League roster.
