Packers HC Matt LaFleur has strong words for Bears ahead of Week 5
The Chicago Bears have won back-to-back games and have shifted their focus on their Week 5 matchup. They will take on their rivals, the Green Bay Packers, at Lambeau Field, and Matt LaFluer had some strong words for the visiting team.
Chicago is coming off a 23-12 win over the New York Jets. Tyson Bagent started under center after Case Keenum starred in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles. The 26-year-old Shepherd Rams product will once again be the QB1 as Caleb Williams continues to recover from a hamstring injury. He suffered it during the second game of the season versus the Minnesota Vikings.
Green Bay, on the other hand, also won on Sunday. LaFluer and Co. defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17-14 to improve to 2-1 for the season. Jordan Love led the charge by completing 22-of-30 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns against one interception.

Matt LaFleur speaks on Bears-Packers Week 5 game
LaFleur stressed the magnitude of the rivalry game and not engaging with trash talk with Bears head coach Ben Johnson. He also highlighted that it’s a big challenge for his team to face the defending NFC North champions.
“Because this game is about players and so we’ll keep it about the players,” LaFleur said. “I’m not the one out there they’re playing. Don’t get me wrong. I love the rivalry, it’s awesome. It’s great. It’s intense. You can feel it on gameday. You can feel it throughout the course of the week and also the significance, I mean, they’re the defending North champions. So what a great opportunity, great challenge for us in our home stadium to play against the defending champs.”
It’s Packers-Bears week and Matt LaFleur was asked today why he doesn’t engage in rivalry trash talk publicly (a la Ben Johnson)?
“Because this game is about players and so we’ll keep it about the players. I’m not the one out there they’re playing … don’t get me wrong. I love the rivalry. It’s awesome. It’s great. It’s intense. You can feel it on gameday. You can feel it throughout the course of the week and also the significance, I mean, they’re the defending North champions. So what a great opportunity, great challenge for us in our home stadium to play against the defending champs.”

Sunday’s showdown is the first of a two-game road trip for Chicago. The team will then travel to Mercedes-Benz Stadium to take on the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 18. It remains unclear when Williams will return, but Bagent has shown what he’s capable of and he’ll be ready for the Week 5 matchup.
