Chicago Bears need approval from NFL to move to Indiana: Report
The Chicago Bears are in limbo, waiting for Illinois to pass tax-friendly legislation that would help the team build in Arlington Heights.

Indiana is ready for the Bears to move to Hammond, in the northwest part of the state.
Bears CEO Kevin Warren recently suggested the team would make a decision on where to build the new stadium around the end of spring or early summer, backing off from a “soft deadline” he gave Illinois to pass legislation by the end of March.
In the meantime, the NFL is growing impatient with the Bears stadium project.
Per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the team will meet with the NFL stadium committee on April 27. The committee called for the meeting to receive an update on the Bears’ plans.
The committee makes recommendations to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and the entire league regarding stadium construction and how the project is financed.
It’s unclear if the Bears will be able to get approval from the league by the spring owners meeting in May 19-20 while Illinois takes its time with legislation. The league would have to sign off on the Bears moving to Indiana, though Goodell has visited the location in Hammond with representatives of the team.
The Bears have used Indiana to help negotiate with Illinois, but the league could ultimately force the team out of the bluff.

“Shortly after the April 23-25 draft, the team will need to share the latest developments with the stadium committee, a natural step in the process,” Biggs wrote. “Any move — whether to Arlington Heights or Hammond — would have to be approved by the league before it could be put into motion.
“Whether the Bears can get enough answers and make a decision in time for a potential vote at the spring owners meeting May 19-20 in Orlando, Fla., remains to be seen.”
During the league’s annual meeting in Phoenix last month, Goodell suggested the Bears needed to act quickly to build a new stadium, arguing that Soldier Field needed serious improvement.
It’ll be hard for the Bears to give concrete details for the meeting in April when the team has no idea when or if Illinois will provide help.
