Chicago Bulls have some draft drama on Caleb Wilson: Report
New Chicago Bulls executive vice president of basketball operations Bryson Graham received a huge gift from the NBA lottery when his team lucked out on the No. 4 draft pick for 2026.
The first round has four big names for the upcoming draft: AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Cameron Boozer, and Caleb Wilson are expected to be the first four players taken off the board.
Dybantsa and Peterson will likely go No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Boozer, who had a phenomenal freshman season with Duke, could go No. 3, with Wilson falling to Chicago. ESPN immediately mocked Wilson to the Bulls on Sunday when the lottery was finished.
However, nothing is guaranteed in May.
Per Evan Sidery, the Memphis Grizzlies could draft Wilson over Boozer, as the former North Carolina star is seen as a talent who could develop into a better player than Boozer. The Bulls would be happy taking Boozer if the Grizzlies draft Boozer.
“There’s a real chance the Grizzlies decide to select Caleb Wilson over Cam Boozer at No. 3,” Sidery posted on X. “Many NBA scouts and top decision-makers view Wilson as the higher ceiling, but Boozer with the more safe floor outcome. The Bulls are very comfortable picking the remaining one at No. 4.”
Chicago Bulls have other options besides Caleb Wilson
Darius Acuff Jr. could be a wild-card pick for the Bulls at No. 4. The point guard would fill a position of need for Chicago.
Ideally, the Bulls would take Wilson in this year’s draft. Chicago doesn’t need an immediate star as much as they need a player who can be a superstar on a playoff team.
Wilson had a promising freshman season, averaging 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game before he suffered a hand injury in February that knocked him out of the season early.
Boozer would still be a great option for the Bulls. He averaged 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists for the Blue Devils.
