Chicago Cubs complete another comeback as Craig Counsell hits milestone
The Chicago Cubs are the hottest team in baseball right now, winning their eighth-straight game overall and doing it in comeback fashioned. Chicago has won all three games against the Cincinnati Reds this week by coming from behind in dramatic fashioned.
With those wins, the Cubs have won 14-straight at Wrigley Field and 18 of their last 21 games overall. It’s safe to say they are red hot.
During the latest win on Wednesday night, Chicago blew a two-run lead in the ninth inning before rallying in the bottom of the frame to go to extras. From there, Michael Busch had another walk-off, sending the Wrigley Field faithful home happy. It also delivered a milestone win for manager Craig Counsell.
Craig Counsell gets 200th win as Chicago Cubs manager
In his third season with the franchise, Counsell has the Cubs playing their best baseball of his tenure. Coming off a playoff appearance last season, the Cubs are primed for a big run. But on Wednesday, he hit a personal milestone of 200 wins with the franchise.

Counsell is the 19th manager to reach the milestone in Cubs’ history and is four wins away from passing Gabby Hartnett on the list. He does have a long ways to go to get to the top as Cap Anson has the most wins in franchise history with 1,282 from 1879-1897.
In his first two seasons in Chicago, the Cubs have won 83 and 92 games. They have 25 early in May already and are approaching a 100-win pace. It shouldn’t be long before Counsell is climbing the all-time wins list in Cubs’ history.
