Caitlin Clark checked something off her bucket list before Fever game

Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark made the most of her trip to the Bay Area this week. She crossed off a major item on her personal bucket list before playing against the Golden State Valkyries on Thursday.

During a day off on Wednesday, Clark watched the San Francisco Giants’ game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Oracle Park. The stadium sits just blocks from the Chase Center, which hosted the Fever-Valkyries matchup.

Wearing a black-and-white Giants cap, Clark sat in premium seats near the home dugout with her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery. Golden State Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski sat not far from them.

Despite the Giants’ 3-2 loss, the WNBA star still enjoyed the experience. Speaking before Thursday’s game, Clark said watching baseball at the scenic waterfront venue was a major personal goal.

“Oracle was on my bucket list,” the 6-foot guard told reporters. “We got here two days early, so I was like, ‘I gotta try to go.’ We had early practice, so I was a few innings late, but I got over there.”

Clark then offered a lighthearted take on her seating experience at the ballpark while praising the scenic setting.

“And honestly, I was in the second row,” she continued. “I’m not gonna complain about being in the second row, but it might be one of those ballparks where the nosebleeds might be better than behind home plate.

“But obviously, 65 and sunny right on the bay, a baseball game in the middle of the bay, that’s not too bad.”

Discussing her favorite ballparks, Clark said the Giants’ home is right near the top.

“I obviously love Wrigley Field, but Oracle is maybe a close second, but I don’t know,” she admitted. “They can still outduel each other. It was fun. Cool park.”

However, the leisure time was short-lived as the Valkyries later defeated the Fever 90-88 in the closely contested matchup. Clark and Raven Johnson led Indiana with 16 points each.

While the scoreboard didn’t go Indiana’s way, Clark continued to cement her legacy in the history books. During the game, she became the fastest WNBA player to surpass 1,000 points and 500 assists. She achieved the feat in 59 games, totaling 1,118 points and 503 assists across her career.
