Star player falls to Chicago Bulls in latest 2026 NBA mock draft

As the calendar has flipped to June, the 2026 NBA Draft is just a few weeks away. For the Chicago Bulls, they hold pick No. 4 and No. 15 in the first round. With a rebuild underway, this draft is a good chance for the Bulls to get off to a good start.

At No. 4, the Bulls will have the chance to draft one of the top four players in the draft. The consensus boards have A.J. Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Caleb Wilson and Cameron Boozer as the top four.

Right now, many have the Bulls landing either Boozer or Wilson depending on what the Memphis Grizzlies do at No. 3. But what if things go differently than expected? Could the Bulls end up with someone like Peterson? A new mock draft believes that’s a realistic chance.

Latest mock draft has Darryn Peterson fall to Chicago Bulls

In his updated mock draft, USA TODAY Sports’ Bryan Kalbrosky has a shakeup in the first two picks. He has the Utah Jazz selecting Wilson at No. 2 overall. From there, he has the Memphis Grizzlies going with Boozer and the Bulls taking Peterson.

Bryson Graham, who was recently hired as the new executive vice president of basketball operations for the Bulls, has a simple task: Select whichever of the four players is still available. While he is certainly no longer perceived as the near-certain No. 1 overall pick that he once was due to relative inconsistency and injury issues, many scouts and evaluators still feel that Darryn Peterson is the most talented player in this class. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Woo, he has received ‘largely positive” feedback and was “quiet but serious” during the pre-draft interview process of the combine. Overall, it is incredibly rare to find a prospect who is able to score as efficiently as Peterson did while holding a usage rate as high as his was this season.

He’s right about Graham’s simple task. Whatever of the four that are there need to be the pick, whether that’s Wilson, Peterson or Boozer, they should be the Bulls’ pick. There’s no reason to overthink it.

As for Peterson, he was once thought of the top prospect in this class going into the season. But an up-and-down year at Kansas due to some cramping issues have hurt his stock a bit. Still, he would be a huge get for the Bulls who have a need for a scoring guard on the wing.
