Chicago Cubs’ starting pitcher to return on Saturday
The Chicago Cubs are working through some struggles as the calendar has flipped to June. At one point in May, the Cubs had the lead in the NL Central and completed their second 10-game win streak of the early season.
But then it all took a turn starting in Atlanta.
After the Cubs lost a series to the Atlanta Braves, they dropped another one to the Chicago White Sox. From there, they had a 10-game losing streak and now they sit in fourth place in the NL Central. It didn’t help that the starting pitching rotation suffered two injuries to key starters. But some help is on the way according to multiple reports.
Edward Cabrera set to start for Chicago Cubs on Saturday
Manager Craig Counsell told the media on Sunday that Matthew Boyd had a good rehab start in Iowa and will join the team on Monday. But he’s not the only one set to return this week.
Per Taylor McGregor, Edward Cabrera is set to make his return this week and will start Saturday’s game against the San Fransisco Giants:

Cabrera has been sidelined since May 21st when he went on the IL. Prior to that, he made 10 starts on the year and was off to a strong start. But he was trending in the wrong direction before he went on the IL. He’s posted a 4.00 ERA so far this season.
The additions of Cabrera and Boyd will hopefully provide a boost to the rotation. However, it’s the bats that have been sluggish as of late for the Cubs.
