Tyrese Haliburton comes clean on ‘messed up’ message for Caitlin Clark
Tyrese Haliburton is good friends and a big fan of Caitlin Clark. He already knew how good she was in college but refused to cheer for her. The Indiana Pacers star came clean on Monday about his “messed up” message for the Indiana Fever guard.
Haliburton is set to return to action for his team in the upcoming NBA season. He already played in the preseason after missing the entire 2025-26 campaign as he recovered from an Achilles injury. The two-time All-Star aims to lead the Pacers to a deep playoff run or even return to the finals.
Meanwhile, Clark and the Fever’s season ended on Oct. 1 at the hands of the Las Vegas Aces. They pushed the first-round series to a deciding Game 3 but lost 94-83. The three-time All-Star struggled from field, shooting 6-of-18, finishing with 18 points, four assists and three three-pointers.

Indiana Fever: Tyrese Haliburton opens up on not cheering for Caitlin Clark in college
Haliburton stared for the Iowa State Cyclones from 2020-2022. His team has a rivalry with Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes, and their programs clashed in fiery battles in different sports. The NBA star talked about not publicly showing his support for her in college, especially in the national championship game.
“I knew she was good,” Haliburton said. “I knew Caitlin was the best player in the country. I would never ever say that she’s not (and) I just refused to acknowledge it. When you’re coming to Iowa, what you’re not understanding is you’re going to a state that has no professional sports teams. So the college sports are everything. Because Caitlin, I told her, when you guys went to the national championship, I was not cheering for you.
“That was not ever in the cards. That would never happen. Damn. Whereas Jade was all about Caitlin, all about Iowa. So I said, ‘Caitlin, it took until you stopped wearing an Iowa jersey for me to be like, go Caitlin, go Fever. Before that, never. And so she was like, ‘That’s messed up.’ And I was like, ‘That’s just the truth.’ That’s how I was put into the Iowa-Iowa State rivalry.”

They have since been supporting each other when either the Pacers or Fever play. Haliburton’s wife, Jade, and Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, have also joined them during some hangouts.
