On Monday, the rosters for the 2026 Rising Stars Game were announced as the NBA sophomores, rookies, and G-League players will be competing against one another to showcase the next generation of the league. The Bulls have one representative in the game as forward Matas Buzelis was named to the game. He has been playing well this season and has shown improvement as he is an everyday starter. Buzelis is averaging 14.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 0.7 steals in 28.0 minutes per game. His shooting numbers are very similar to last season as well, posting a shooting split of 47.5/35.9/78.0 thus far.

Buzelis did not participate in the Rising Stars Game last season, so this is a chance for him to show the league he can take the next step. There is a lot of excitement he has brought to Chicago this season and can be able to lead the team to the next level. Ahead of Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Buzelis would explain how he is excited to be recognized:

“It means a lot. Anytime you have an accolade in the NBA it’s truly a blessing and honor. Hopefully we can have some more.”

This is a great sign of things to come for a young star player finding his own in the league. It will be intriguing to see his development continue as the season rolls on.
