Chicago Bulls star sends trade deadline plea amid loss to Lakers
The Chicago Bulls entered Monday night’s game one game above .500 and on a four-game winning streak.

The Los Angeles Lakers dropped Chicago to 23-23 with a 129-118 win in front of 21,298 fans at the United Center.
With seven possible free agents this summer, including Coby White, the Bulls have to think wisely about selling at the trade deadline instead of stubbornly trying to compete for another spot in the Play-In Tournament. Chicago is currently in ninth place in the Eastern Conference and 1.5 games back from the Philadelphia 76ers for the No. 6 seed.
On Monday, center Nikola Vucevic sent a plea to the front office, hoping the Bulls will keep the team intact for one more run at the playoffs.
“As far as the deadline, there’s always talks, always things that could happen, and this is a unique year because of the contract situation for a lot of guys, but I do like this group,” Vucevic said, via Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times. “I enjoy being around these guys…
“There are a lot of guys that have a chip on their shoulders and want to prove people wrong because we’ve been doubted. I would like to see what we can do and where we can go this year, but the front office has to make decisions and we all understand that.”

The Bulls might do enough this spring to make it into the Play-In Tournament, but they are far away from being able to contend for an NBA championship. They don’t have the star power.
Chicago saw what star power can do when Luka Doncic dropped 46 points in 38 minutes on Monday night.
White was the Bulls’ leading scorer with 23 points to go along with six assists and five rebounds. Vucevic added 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Both players could be traded for pieces that can help the Bulls get to the playoffs in the future.
