Sky star Angel Reese makes admission about career move away from WNBA
Angel Reese continued her rise in her second season with the Chicago Sky. The 23-year-old firmly established herself as one of the top young stars in the WNBA with averages of 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals in 31.6 minutes per game. Reese clinched the rebounding title for the second straight year, en route to a second consecutive All-Star nod.
Reese, however, missed the final four games of the season. She sustained a back injury toward the latter part of the campaign, forcing her to sit out the tail end of the 2025 season. Despite Reese’s strong play, the Sky still finished with a 10-34 record, tied for last place with Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings.

In an unexpected move during the WNBA offseason, Reese decided to pull out of the second season of the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league. The former LSU Tigers star was one of the biggest draws of the league’s inaugural season in 2025, so her absence this year left more than a few people surprised.
Reese did not provide an official explanation for her career decision outside the WNBA. However, some reports have connected it to her back injury.
On Monday night, the Sky star took to social media to make an admission after some of her Unrivaled highlights resurfaced. Reese could not help but get emotional.

Unrivaled caught wind of Reese’s post, and the league responded with a five-word statement. “Forever the BIGGEST and BADDEST 
” declared Unrivaled.
Reese is expected to be fully healthy for the start of the 2026 WNBA season. The league already announced the schedule for the upcoming campaign, and Reese should take center stage on opening night. Chicago will open its season with a road matchup on May 9. They will face the Portland Fire, one of two new expansion teams in 2026, on May 9.
